I have worked in Training for 12 years as Compliance Officer within a College and have worked for Staffpower as the Lead Compliance Officer since 2022. I have an eye for detail and experience preparing paperwork for audits. The job is very diverse and we have a cracking team which makes every day enjoyable.

I’m an avid football fan and Newcastle is my team and I enjoy chilling watching the game with a pint. I also enjoy keeping active and going to the gym.

I joined Staffpower Group at the end of July 2024. Previous to this, I worked in Sales in Contact Centres over 20 years which I think has really helped me grow as a person. I find that the sales sector can be a very demanding and challenging so I decided I needed a change, which brought me to recruitment!

Over the last 2 years I have worked, managed, coached, and supported people to develop their skills. I also help individuals who are unemployed and get them into employment and this has now led me to my new role within Staffpower Group.

In my spare time I enjoy visiting the cinema, going out for nice meals with my partner, spending quality time with family, getting my steps in, and catching up with my bestie.

I am fairly new to recruitment, but I am loving it! Being able to support my candidates through interviews and into employment is so rewarding for both me and them. Knowing my candidates walk into interviews with confidence makes my job so fulfilling. I always want to continue supporting those who are looking to gain employment.

In my spare time I love going to my favourite place Palma Nova! I spend pretty much all my time with my dog Barney and my boyfriend. We love nights away at the Lake District and trying new restaurants.

Coming into this role is very new for me as my background is Travel & Tourism. However, I am really enjoying the role I am now in as it allows me to expand my skills and my knowledge. This is such a rewarding role, and I will love to progress further.

In my free time I love to go to the gym and go on walks with my dogs. I also love to travel all over the world, my favourite place is Iceland.

I joined staff power after spending 5 years in the energy industry, with previous recruitment experience I was excited for the change of scenery, since joining I’ve loved every minute of it. Outside of work I love going on long walks in the lakes, to the gym, and out with friends.

Having worked in banking for over 7 years coming into recruitment was a huge change but defiantly a positive one! I love my new role.  I’m so much happier and this role is so rewarding! Billy Hedgley

When I left school at 16, I headed back and started to support staff in the PE department and this developed into a cover teacher for a couple of years. I also started mentoring students through their GCSEs in this role. After I completed my degree in coaching and development, I found myself in the manufacturing and logistics sector (I know, it’s a bit different!) After 6 years working within manufacturing and logistics, I moved back into teaching – supporting learners on short courses and apprenticeships. I worked with many different employers and companies supporting their apprentices.

This role developed and I ended as a project lead of digitising the apprenticeship curriculum and training staff and learners to use new E-portfolios. I hope to use all of this hands-on experience to provide our learners with the best knowledge and skills to support them in gaining employment and bettering themselves.

In my spare time I’m a football coach and this pretty much means I have no spare time but I absolutely love it!

Rhyan Sasbry

Growing up in school, I was never the most academic and sit amongst my peers as a class clown. Once I left school, I never thought I would go back into education, and I joined the British Army aged 16 and had a very successful career which lasted for 13 years. Throughout my career, I matured up and started to promote through the ranks. As I started to progress, I started taking a leader’s role and achieved a L4 diploma in Leadership and Management and become very competent in my job. As part of this role, I had to start teaching and instructing my junior soldiers around the world on the weapon systems that were used within my role and assess their capabilities. This is where I initially fell in love with the teaching role and knew this was where I was going to go.

During my last year in the British Army I took a transition, learning new skills and completing many courses mainly focusing on health and safety in construction and green energy as well as working within logistics at Amazon. I now dedicate all of my spare time to my two daughters who take over my world (and my bank account).

With over 25 years of experience in education and training, I am a dedicated and passionate educator committed to supporting learners across a wide range of settings. I hold a BA in Health and Social Care from Teesside University, alongside a PGCE, which underpins my strong foundation in both academic knowledge and teaching practice.

I teach Humanities at secondary level and also work with Staffpower, where I deliver and assess a variety of subjects. My career has been shaped by a commitment to inclusive education, learner development, and maintaining high standards in both teaching and assessment.

Outside of my professional life, I enjoy staying active through paddleboarding and rowing. I am also deeply committed to giving back to the community through my volunteering work with Samaritans. In addition, I am a proud member of a German Shepherd dog rescue group, reflecting my passion for animal welfare.

I have been working in education and training for over 26 years. Originally, I was an assessor for NVQ’s and then a quality assurer before returning to tutor learners where I love to see learners blossom and gain confidence.

I have had many roles in my working career including banking, retail, manufacturing and warehousing and my experiences give learners clarity of different working environments.

For several years I was also a Designated Safeguarding Lead and I am still very passionate about safeguarding and prevent I always ensure learners understand the implications of safeguarding and know it is alright to ask for help even when it is very difficult for them to do so.

Apart from working we have two border collies father and son so a lot of my time is spent keeping them active in different places and we do this by travelling in our motorhome all over the country.
