My name is Samantha and I have 23 years’ experience working in Health and Social Care.  Throughout my career, I have worked with children, young people, and adults in various healthcare settings both regulated and unregulated.  What keeps me in health and social care is the amazing positive outcomes that are achieved to making a difference to people’s lives!

In my spare time, I like to spend time with family and friends, enjoy eating out (I like all things spice) with a glass of rose, and walking my dog… and the cat comes along too!

As the Elder Statesman in the group (oldest) I bring over 25 years of recruitment experience in various roles and sectors. After all these years I still get a real buzz out of helping people, whether that be Candidates, Clients or Colleagues and passionately believe the recruitment sector is unique in terms of the positive impact it can have on many peoples’ lives and careers.

Away from work I am a hardened Boro fan and like nothing better than a few light ones with my mates on a Saturday and watching the Mighty Boro home or away, having visited 80 different grounds across England and Europe following my team.

Outside of work, I like to eat out (table 81… if you know, you know!).  I also enjoy travelling and visit the USA every summer.  My favourite place is Orlando, Florida!

20 years ago, I had the opportunity to work in recruitment as a Trainee Recruitment Consultant, something I had never thought about doing! It did not take long and I had the recruitment bug, it is like a rollercoaster and no 2 days have been the same ever since.

I have worked for over 10 years at a national agency specialising in both sales and account management. I have run my own business which specialised in Permanent Recruitment and I am now delighted to be part of the fantastic team at Staffpower Group.

Away from work I enjoy cooking, travelling, and spending time with my beautiful family.

Following a background in Operational Management and Logistics, I took a new path and started working within the recruitment industry in 2019 which I thoroughly enjoy. As a new addition to Staffpower Group, I’m excited to get heavily involved seizing every opportunity to learn and grow as I go extending my skillset to excel within my role.

Outside of work I enjoy spending time with family and friends while also being an avid gym goer. I love to cook and travel experiencing new cultures.

Martin Waller

Managing Director of Training

I started off in further education 26 year ago and managed to successfully grow my training company from just myself to over 100 staff and 5 construction training centres across the North East and supporting learners of all ages and backgrounds into sustainable employment. I have also worked for several years as a consultant, supporting colleges and training companies up and down the UK of all OFSTED grades and all areas of provision to improve on their provision and its been such a rewarding role.

In my spare time I’m a father of four delightful children, a foodie and love to cook, love to travel the world and I’m a daily visitor to the spa, where I combine exercise with mastering the art of relaxation and reflection. I forgot to add red wine to this list but that’s in with the cooking, eating, relaxing, parenting and holidays also.

Lee Johnston

I have over 14 years of experience working within training and education for various training providers and colleges. Prior to this, I held senior managerial roles in logistics for some of the world’s most recognisable brands, developing a deep understanding of global business operations and supply chain management.

In my spare time I enjoy physical fitness such as hitting the gym and training in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA). I also enjoy coaching my son’s football club, using my experiences from training and education to help develop young minds and bodies. Throughout my career, I have been driven by a desire to help others grow and succeed, and I love being able to provide opportunities for all our candidates through training and education.

Kelly Vickerson

I started working in accounts many moons ago (not showing my age!) and joined Staffpower Group in November 2022 which has been the best decision I have made.  It is a great team and a pleasure to work with making my job in accounts very worthwhile.

Outside of work, I enjoy football (SAFC season ticket holder), walks, and lots of wine.

After being in my previous job for almost 25 years, I recently decided it was time for a career change and couldn’t have chosen a better business to come to!

Although I am relatively new to the company, I already feel like part of the team. I am absolutely loving my new role here.

Billy Hedgley

Lead Tutor

When I left school at 16, I headed back and started to support staff in the PE department and this developed into a cover teacher for a couple of years. I also started mentoring students through their GCSEs in this role. After I completed my degree in coaching and development, I found myself in the manufacturing and logistics sector (I know, it’s a bit different!) After 6 years working within manufacturing and logistics, I moved back into teaching – supporting learners on short courses and apprenticeships. I worked with many different employers and companies supporting their apprentices.

This role developed and I ended as a project lead of digitising the apprenticeship curriculum and training staff and learners to use new E-portfolios. I hope to use all of this hands-on experience to provide our learners with the best knowledge and skills to support them in gaining employment and bettering themselves.

In my spare time I’m a football coach and this pretty much means I have no spare time but I absolutely love it!

I joined Staffpower Group at the end of July 2024. Previous to this, I worked in Sales in Contact Centres over 20 years which I think has really helped me grow as a person. I find that the sales sector can be a very demanding and challenging so I decided I needed a change, which brought me to recruitment!

Over the last 2 years I have worked, managed, coached, and supported people to develop their skills. I also help individuals who are unemployed and get them into employment and this has now led me to my new role within Staffpower Group.

In my spare time I enjoy visiting the cinema, going out for nice meals with my partner, spending quality time with family, getting my steps in, and catching up with my bestie.

Charlotte Waller

I am fairly new to recruitment, but I am loving it! Being able to support my candidates through interviews and into employment is so rewarding for both me and them. Knowing my candidates walk into interviews with confidence makes my job so fulfilling. I always want to continue supporting those who are looking to gain employment.

In my spare time I love going to my favourite place Palma Nova! I spend pretty much all my time with my dog Barney and my boyfriend. We love nights away at the Lake District and trying new restaurants.

Having come from a Recruitment background within the Oil & Gas sector, I decided to make a change and come into the Training industry. I joined Staffpower in June 2023, and I am loving every minute of it! This was definitely the right choice for me!

When I’m not at work I like to spend my nights in the gym, doing boxing and pole fitness. I also love taking my 2 dogs (Murphy & Mini) out for long walks.

Coming into this role is very new for me as my background is Travel & Tourism. However, I am really enjoying the role I am now in as it allows me to expand my skills and my knowledge. This is such a rewarding role, and I will love to progress further.

In my free time I love to go to the gym and go on walks with my dogs. I also love to travel all over the world, my favourite place is Iceland.
